The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Devs Express Regret in Releasing Underwhelming Game

Daedalic Entertainment has recently shared a statement in regard to the disappointing launch of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was launched recently on various platforms and it was expected to be a whole new experience for fans and non-fans of the LOTR franchise. After a few hours, the feedback came in like a tidal wave. A tidal wave of disappointment for many. It was so bad that the scores on review sites were all below average and some even put scores as low as 2. It seems Daedalic Entertainment already expected this outcome and quickly released a statement to apologize to the community.

The developers apologized for the underwhelming experience that the gamers had with the game when it launched. They acknowledged and deeply regret that it did not meet the expectations that they set for themselves or for their dedicated community. They were very apologetic for the disappointment that they have caused.

Daedalic has promised that its team is now working hard to address the bugs and technical issues that the game is currently plagued with. Expect many patches in the coming days, weeks, and months post-launch.

The responses to the tweet were brutal, accusing the developers of charging money for a game that they knew was not up to their standards. Some criticized the game for not having a single redeeming quality and failing all aspects of design regardless of bugs. Some compared it to other titles that also launched badly on day one like Cyberpunk 2077.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is out now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
