Gearbox clarifies the Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition “actual file size” on the Nintendo Switch.
Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition launched on the Nintendo Switch recently and some fans were excited to get a copy for their own handheld consoles. They noticed on the physical Switch box for the game the details of the game especially its file size, which surprised them. According to the text, the game needed a 62GB download in addition to the file size in the cartridge. This worried them because it was too large for some players who had not invested in a large SD card. Luckily for them, Gearbox quickly made clarifications on social media.
According to the official Twitter account of Borderlands, Gearbox revealed that the reports about Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition file size on Switch were technically incorrect. “Actual file size is 23.5 GB. We had to submit a file size at packaging time but kept working to optimize it,” the studio said.
Gearbox also revealed that the base game is only 8.5GB, while all of the DLCs add up to 15 GB. Each DLC can be installed individually, so players have a choice of which DLCs to install or not.
