Toys and Figures Convention (TOFICON) Cebu 2024 was held at Ayala Central Bloc Cebu last weekend, December 7 to 8, 2024, an entire weekend dedicated to toys and action figures for everyone to enjoy. The event was brought to life by its passionate exhibitors, who generously shared their most beloved toy and figure collections, creating a captivating display that delighted attendees.
Here we listed the most eye-catching, impressive exhibits during TOFICON 2024. Those that made the list caught our attention when we attended the event.
The Simple Hobbyista
Those who crave a story-focused diorama will admire The Simple Hobbyista‘s work. From model kits to traditionally hand-crafted dioramas, his creations capture the essence of the scenes his diorama tries to convey. “Die aktion oben”, the German translation of “the action above,” shows German soldiers on a Panther tank looking above like they’re watching their air forces fighting against the opposition in France in 1945. Another diorama titled “An Unlikely Visitor at the Eastern Front” had a scene that conveys an adorable scene where a horse crosses in front of the tank; at the same time, German soldiers witness the events unfold.
The Simple Hobbyista’s other displays include model kits of Star Wars starfighters such as an X-Win and Y-Wing, plus a kicker 3D-printed, custom-painted of the USS Sulaco that appeared in the film by James Cameron titled Aliens in 1986.
LoganGeorge26
LoganGeorge26‘s display is probably my personal favorite. His charming mix of mini-Pikachus and football-playing Gundams plus a few rare limited collection-worthy soda cans, showcases the joy of collecting for personal passion rather than the obligation of completing sets. Logan simply collects the things he loves rather than being obligated to complete an entire set for just a single desired figure which makes his display one of the most precious things you’ll ever see.
XerichoMultimedia
Aside from LoganGeorge26’s display, XerichoMultimedia doesn’t shy away from mixing action figures in one whole bar. It’s chaotic, entertaining, and pure fun. You’ll see various characters ranging from Halo’s Master Chief to Zack Snyder’s Superman. A lot is going on in the bar as you see characters finding themselves in a dance battle or a romantic moment, there’s too many things going on and it’s a pure joy to look at.
Cebu Kaiju Collectors
The Cebu Kaiju Collectors unleashed the titans at TOFICON 2024, wowing attendees with their colossal collection of Godzilla and other kaiju, including the fearsome King Ghidorah. Showcasing everything from classic Toho designs to the modern American interpretations of Godzilla, their display awestruck visitors.
Cebu Mecha Society
There isn’t a toy convention without the presence of Gundams. The Gunpla community in Cebu City is strong, and the Cebu Mecha Society (CMS) brought their mighty impressively built Gundam and Zaku model kits at TOFICON 2024. From Gundam Seed kits to the popular Unicorn Gundams, you’ll never fall short of the Gunpla-craze.
