Squanch Games crashed gamescom 2025 with a major info dump for High On Life 2, revealing 42 minutes of new gameplay to select attendees and capping it all off with a firm release date: February 13, 2026.
The sequel to the best-selling comedic shooter is set to launch simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. In a huge win for subscribers, it will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The story picks up five years after the original game, with the protagonist enjoying the fame that comes with being the universe’s top bounty hunter. That celebrity status is quickly upended when a new bounty appears on the network—for the hero’s own sister, Lizzie, who has apparently been building a reputation as a freedom fighter (or terrorist, depending on who you ask). In a sudden twist, the player finds themselves framed as the new bad guy.
To clear their name, players will be armed with a fresh arsenal of talking guns (Gatlians), featuring a mix of returning fan-favorites and new faces. The Gamescom demo confirmed the return of Knifey (Michael Cusack), Sweezy (Betsy Sodaro), and Gus (JB Smoove). It also introduced a brand-new weapon named Sheath, a stoic blade voiced by Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Green Knight).
Developer Squanch Games is leaning into the quirky Friday the 13th release date, which also happens to be Valentine’s Day Eve, encouraging players to “kick off everyone’s favorite holiday in style by blasting alien creeps to rescue your sister.”
High On Life 2 is now available to wishlist on all announced platforms ahead of its February 13, 2026 release.
