PlayStation State of Play Airs Today with With Major PS5 Updates

Sony is stepping back into the spotlight today with a State of Play that runs longer than most fans expected.

The February 12 broadcast is scheduled to stretch past the one hour mark, making it one of the more substantial showcases PlayStation has delivered outside its major summer presentations. That runtime alone signals this is not a minor update reel. It feels intentional.

According to the official PlayStation Blog announcement, the stream will feature news, gameplay updates, and fresh reveals from studios around the world.

    What We Know So Far

Sony’s official announcement confirms that the broadcast will begin at:

    • 2 PM Pacific Time
    • 5 PM Eastern Time
    • 11 PM Central European Time
    • 8 AM Philippine Standard Time (Feb 13)

This State of Play is expected to mix both long-form updates and surprises, with the company explicitly teasing “news, gameplay updates, and announcements from game studios across the globe.”

    What Fans Are Hyping Up

At this stage, Sony has not published a detailed roster of what will show. That has not stopped speculation.

Several insiders have floated a handful of likely appearances for titles currently on the radar for PS5 later this year. Rumored or expected segments include:

    • Housemarque’s action game Saros with new footage or details ahead of release.
    • Updates tied to Resident Evil Requiem in advance of its late-February launch.
    • Possible looks at Marathon and other first-party PlayStation Studios projects.

Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls also sits in an interesting position. The superhero fighter from Arc System Works saw roster details leak earlier this week, shifting attention onto the project ahead of schedule. A formal reveal or confirmation during the broadcast would allow Sony to take control of that conversation before the game’s 2026 release.

Phantom Blade Zero continues to build momentum as well. The wuxia-inspired action RPG from S Game is slated for September 9 and remains one of the more visually striking PS5 console exclusives on the horizon. Its previous showings have generated strong reactions, so another polished segment would not be surprising.

Then there is Horizon Hunters Gathering, Guerrilla’s newly announced three player live service co-op spin off. With playtesting set to begin at the end of February, this feels like the right window for a deeper gameplay breakdown. Sony rarely lets a test period approach without first setting expectations.

There is also fan chatter around potential surprises, from rereleases to unexpected announcements, but nothing on those fronts has been confirmed yet.

Rolling Out highlighted the scale of the event and its potential impact on the PS5’s 2026 slate, noting that extended showcases typically indicate meaningful updates rather than filler segments.

    The Wolverine Question

One high-profile absence appears likely. Recent comments from developer Insomniac Games suggest that Marvel’s Wolverine may not receive fresh details here. According to reports, the team has pointed fans toward Spring 2026 for the next big update, effectively dampening expectations for a State of Play reveal this week.

State of Play events have become a crucial way for Sony to highlight games beyond the big summer and holiday showcases. They offer a chance to reconnect the PlayStation community with upcoming releases, indie surprises, and updates that redefine a console’s annual roadmap.

This February event feels particularly significant. The hour-plus runtime and emphasis on news from around the industry suggests Sony has a lot to show, even if not all reveals have leaked yet.

Where to Watch the PlayStation State of Play

The event will be livestreamed on PlayStation’s official YouTube and official PlayStation Twitch channel with English audio and Japanese subtitles available. You can watch it here:

The show will be archived after the livestream, so viewers who miss it can watch on demand at their convenience.
