Game company Sony Interactive Entertainment recently made an announcement in regards movie and TV purchases and rentals.
SIE recently gave a statement in regards to the movie and TV purchases and rentals on the official PlayStation Blog. Since customers are now more focused on subscription-based and ad-based entertainment streaming services, they have deemed their movie and TV purchases and rentals offerings not in demand anymore. This is the reason for them to discontinue their offers through the PlayStation Store starting August 31.
Even if the changes will take effect on August 31, users can still access the movies and TV content that they have bought on the PS Store. It will not be gone, but the service will be removed instead.
Many users are more inclined to subscribe to streaming services anyways like Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and others.
