The settlement has always been the center figure for the Vikings in its era, or what we have seen usually on TV shows focusing on them. All of the raiding and pillaging in dark ages Europe was all because of getting enough resources for the community. In Assassins Creed Valhalla, this is also the same and will become the main focus of the whole playthrough instead of just going through the whole story.
Creative director Ashraf Ismail tells walks us though it all from departing the lands of cold Norway to landing the lush and vibrant Europe.
Assassins Creed Valhalla settlement gameplay
Ismail starts by revealing that everything will start with the Norse Viking Raider Eivor, who is the hero of the story. This warrior will then set off with his/her companions from Norway to England in order to find the perfect patch of land to settle in. At this time, Norway was a harsh cold land with little food to find and has a lot of wars going on with other tribes. When they reach England, Eivor’s task is to build the settlement and find people to help him with it. This will be the main motivation of the whole game and will have a large gameplay value.
While the Vikings are settling in nicely, the neighbors are not that happy with the invaders. In order to quell those angry English knights, the Vikings will have to go on raids. Players will most likely ride the longships with the raiding party that he has handpicked and trained from his settlement, and go kick angry mob “buttocks.” The good news is that these handpicked warriors can actually be customized to their liking. They will go on epic fortification attacks.
The combat will be brutal, just like in the Viking Era. Ismail describes its combat “visceral” in nature. The fights will be weightier since axes will be the main weaponry in this game. Players will really feel the impact of the weapon once it hits the opponent on a very vital part of the body.
Assassins Creed Valhalla will launch sometime in holiday 2020. It will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC via Epic Games Store.
