Assassins Creed Valhalla To Focus On Specific Story Only; Branching Dialogues Happen

Assassins Creed Valhalla is known to have the option to choose between a male or female version of Eivor, the hero of the story. This type of feature started with Assassins Creed Odyssey and it received good feedback from the gaming community, which is why it only made sense that it should be available here. This feature, however, did have an impact on the previous game. Will it matter in this Viking era? Creative director Ashraf Ismail tells us more.

Assassins Creed Valhalla hero genders will not affect story

Ismail clarified that while players have the option to choose between a male or female version of Eivor, it will not matter to the story. What the team planned was a singular character’s journey only through the Viking’s tough and insane time period.

We wanted to tell a very personal story within this really grand setting. That’s been the artistic decision that we had in the beginning.

There are some choices that can be made within the story, but the narration will be specific only.

    Branching dialogue

As for dialogue, there will be choices for players to pick from and branching dialogue along the way. The hero is a Viking Raider who is clearly ambitious and wants glory, but he/she is also a leader within the community. He/she will have to face some tough decisions between gaining some vainglorious victories and getting the much-needed resources for the community he is taking care of. Players will have the freedom to choose which he is going for.

Valhalla seems to have a good direction in terms of story-telling and aims for a single goal only, which is good compared these days. At least players have the freedom to explore, raid, and gather resources for the community, but moves on with the story at a steady pace.

Assassins Creed Valhalla will launch sometime in holidays 2020. It will be available on PC via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
