Take Flight is the eleventh chapter in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The young Sarentu has now been prepared to bond with their own ikran, but letting one choose them will take patience and heart. Read ahead as we go through the events of Take Flight in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and share some tips on how to complete the chapter.
Now that you have connected with Eywa, you must meet up with Nefika at the ikran rookery for your ikran bonding. Head south of the Glade of Light and go below the floating mountains to reach the rookery.
Pass time by the fire until Nefika arrives at the ikran rookery
Once you reach the rookery, pass time by the campfire to wait for Nefika to arrive. She will then meet you together with Eetu. They then give you some advice before sending you into the center of the rookery.
Climb the rookery to be chosen by an ikran
Make your way up the rookery through the paths and ledges.
Along the way, you’ll end up at a dead end. Inspect the large leaf to discover that they are Gateway Lilies. Shoot the smaller lily leaves, and this will cause the large leaf in the middle to retract and reveal the path ahead.
Make your way through the ravine as you follow the ikran. You’ll meet Eetu along the way, who managed to get ahead of you. Climb the lift vine and continue up the path, where you will find an ikran.
You will need to soothe the ikran as you approach it. Your first attempt will fail as the ikran flies away. Proceed to climb higher as you pursue the Ikran.
You’ll reach the floating rocks on the rookery, and you will reach a vista that forks both ways. Look to your right, and you will see another lift vine across the gap. Jump far towards the vine and climb it to reach the painted wall to get the Kinglor Forest Face Paint.
Jump back to the previous rock, take the path to the left, and continue your climb. Do another long jump to reach a vine on a cliff, and then climb higher. Follow the path ahead, and you’ll see more lilies blocking another path ahead.
Follow the branches coming from the large leaf in the middle to locate the smaller leaves that you have to shoot. One is near the end of the path, another one is just below the ledge in front of you, while the other is high up on the right side, under a tree.
Jump towards the revealed cave opening, and you will see more ikran fly by. Continue following the path around the rocks, then look for a dark cave that you can crawl through. Then, use the jump pads to get to the next lift vine.
You’ll meet up with Eetu once more, and just up ahead is the Ikran you met before. Again, soothe it as you approach it, but it will fly away again.
Take the path to the right that goes around the rock to continue pursuing the ikran. As you cross the root bridge, the ikran will fly towards you. You use the vine given to you by Eetu earlier, but the ikran flies away with it.
Continue following the path, and you’ll eventually glow through a lit cave. Touch the leaf covering the exit of the cave to proceed. You’ll see Eetu once again waiting for you.
He reminds you of how special the bond is and shares the story of how he met Zomey to get you prepared for your next attempt.
Up ahead is the same ikran perched along with other ikran. Try to soothe it again, but this time, make sure that you are approaching it very slowly; otherwise, it will go hostile and you will have to try again. If it shows aggression, pause first and wait for it to calm down before continuing to approach it.
Eventually, the ikran will let you approach it and take off the vine from its beak.
You will then access the screen where you can choose a name for your ikran from a list of preselected names. Make sure to decide on the name you want, as you cannot change it afterwards. You can also select a pattern for its skin, which you can still change later on as you discover more patterns in the world.
Once you’re done, Eetu tells you that you have to secure the bond with a final act of trust before pushing you off the rock.
Call your ikran to catch you in mid-air
At this point, call your ikran by pressing the Up on the D-Pad and you can start learning the flight controls.
Take to the skies / Enjoy your first flight
Test out the controls as you make your first flight. First, toggle your Left Stick forward or backward to increase or decrease your speed, then press X to get a speed burst.
Next, do a nose dive by moving your Right Stick upwards (by default).
Then, notice that your ikran also has an energy bar. You can feed it by pressing L1.
Keep flying and feeling out the controls, and you will eventually complete the chapter. You’ll gain another point for the Clan Favor, plus 2 more skill points to use. You can then head back to Etuwa to proceed to the next chapter.
