Larian Studios has recently confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 aggressive horny companions were actually caused by a bug and were not intended to behave that way.

In an interview with TheGamer, Larian Studios revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 launched with a bug that made the companions too horny too soon into the player’s relationship with them. This caused various problems and sometimes these caused irregular playthroughs for players.

One of the most aggressive horny companions in the game was the explosive wizard Gale. He was very aggressive in having some fun at nighttime at the camp after recruiting him. The Tiefling Barbarian Karlach is a close second to the aggressiveness.

CEO Swen Vincke told The Gamer in an interview that the companions’ approval thresholds were set too low, which was the cause of the aggressiveness in sex. “That’s why they were so horny in the beginning,” he explained.

Larian claims that the bug has been fixed, but clarifies that not all companions. It seems the studio wanted the game to be this horny and would not be right in real life.

“There were a lot of people that enjoyed it. But it was too fast,” Vincke said. “It was supposed to simulate how real relationships are.” Acting this way in real life would be “problematic”.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now on PC. PS5 will launch later this month while the Xbox Series X/S version will be released later this year.
