Battlefield 2042 Compromise Adds End-of-Game Scoreboard Instead – Update 2 and 3 Details, and Preview

Two updates with substantial changes to the game coming soon!

After a rather rocky launch, EA DICE is planning to release two updates for Battlefield 2042 with the first one to be uploaded soon.

The first update will be Update 2, which will be available on Thursday, November 25, 2021. It will make changes on the following:

  • Improved Soldier Revives, addressing ‘unable to revive when a Soldier dies close to an object, or wall’.
  • A respawn protection system that will help to prevent any extraneous issues that can leave a player in a downed state for too long, and force a manual respawn when required.
  • Re-enabling our UAV-1 Interaction in Battlefield Portal, available on our Battlefield Bad Company 2 maps. It was overpowered, and we’ve made adjustments to account for that.
  • Vehicle Balancing for the LCAA Hovercraft and MD540 Nightbird mentioned above.
  • Dispersion has been reduced for all weapons except Shotguns, which results in more consistent bullet spread during gameplay.

More details will be revealed later on when the update lands on all available platforms.

Update 3 will be launched sometime in early December 2021 and this will be the biggest one DICE will release since the game’s launch. From the patch notes alone, it will make significant changes, a lot of fixes, and Quality of Life enhancements for players to enjoy.

Some of the highlights of this massive update include changes to User Interface like improving the collection screens to make it easier to use and clear as to what players are interacting with. Another inclusion is more enhancements to the Player Card screen and End of Round to provide additional polish.

In Matchmaking and Friends section, there is one highlight that addresses the servers getting stuck in unresponsive game states, which has happened a lot of times. Update 3 will iron this out when it launches next month.

For Progression and Unlocks, one highlight includes the introduction of weekly missions, which will provide players with set challenges that reward cosmetic unlocks. This will make it easier to gain skins instead of the usual method.

There were some rendering issues happening before and with Update 3, this will be fixed. Visual flickering and stuttering issues will finally be addressed and fixed. Water rendering also had issues, but they will be fixed soon.

Update 3 will finally resolve the multiple spawning issues, which bugged a lot of players out. Over 150 individual fixes have been done across all maps too.

At Battlefield Portal, there will be Builder Additions like Rush game mode layouts for all 2042 All-Out Warfare maps. There will be new official Vehicle Team Deathmatch template, official Team and FFA Gun Master templates, official Infection template, and more.

Battlefield Hazard Zone will have improvements to its visual presentation of its currency system in Front End. There are tons of fixes and improvements done to this section.

Several Specialists have been fixed and tweaked as well. Casper’s OV-P Recon Drone especially has tons of fixes like resolving an issue where the user is unable to deploy the OV-OP Recon Drone while in a prone position. Another one is an update on the OV-P Recon Drone EMP hint message to clarify that firing requires a lock on.

And a ton more changes. Check here for the full list. Warning, it’s a very long list.

There are still other features that many fans of the Battlefield franchise want to see. DICE is currently deliberating on bringing back the legacy features like the End-of-match Scoreboard, Server Browser, and Voice Chat. According to the developers these are “big topics for us to cover all at once, and we have plenty we want to say around them.” They said that when they will have something to show to everyone, they will come back with details.

Players are still disappointed that they are not able to see the scoreboard to see their scores during a match. With these two updates though, it seems it will take more time to accomplish them.

Battlefield 2042 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
