Team17 and The Game Kitchen have recently announced the sequel Blasphemous II.
The sequel to the 2019 Metroidvania will bring new design ideas and new artistic and narrative paths. Its planned launch is in late summer 2023 and will be released on PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Blasphemous II introduces the return of The Penitent One and continues the story from the free Wounds of Eventide DLC for the original game. The end of the story revealed that The Heart in the sky heralded the return of The Miracle and foretold the birth of a new miracle child.
In the sequel, The Penitent One has awakened in a strange new land and has been displaced from his final resting place. He is back again into the endless cycle of life, death, and resurrection. He has no other alternative than to explore this new world and uncover its secrets.
Blasphemous II launches in summer 2023 for consoles and PC.
