Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Immersion Better with Introduction of New Systems and Technology

Immersion is one of the vital aspects that make a video game enjoyable for a player since they could focus more on it. Immersion makes them understand the story well, respond with gameplay, and enjoy the whole journey. This is why Treyarch is very careful of maintaining that experience in the upcoming video game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Treyarch Lead Game Designer Matt Scronce shared to us here at Sirus Gaming about what they are going to do to maintain the immersion in this game.

According to Scronce, the level of immersion that players will get from Black Ops Cold War will be better based on the new systems and technology they have added. Players will experience these new systems next week during the open beta.

“We take that as a compliment but for us at Treyarch, in Black Ops Cold War specifically, it’s really important for us to maintain that immersion and fantasy,” Scornce said. He also said that there will be changes soon that players will enjoy during the open beta.

    Scornce continued:

To really keep you grounded during your gameplay. The team at Treyarch pushed really hard on a lot of new technology, weapon animations, even coming out off alpha. For the beta players, they will be able to experience a lot of our new weapon technology, recoil systems, firing animations, we’ve also got a new Aim Down Sight (ADS) rendering system. That’s going to allow for a more natural perspective whenever you’re ADS. Really, for us, it’s all about maintaining that immersion and fantasy while not interfering with your gameplay.

Treyarch also made it sure that there were design choices that were based on the theme of the 1980s era, but it would also invite the new generation of players. They are trying to portray the game without going too modern and too focused on the 80s theme. It should be somewhere in between or better yet, a mix of the two with balance.

So expect the experience to be a balance of getting the 80s feel and the modern gameplay. Enjoying the quick-paced gameplay of the modern era, but with the theme of the Cold War times.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is coming on November 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
