A new discovery has revealed that the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 PS5 disc only has a rather very small content only.
With Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 launching tomorrow, physical copies are already shipped to various countries all over the world. Physical copies usually contain the base game and it would allow players to install it on the consoles. Having physical copies would be a great way to play games directly without needing an online connection, but it seems a few big games are now starting to put little data in the discs and the rest needs to be downloaded online.
It was recently discovered that the PS5 disc version of Modern Warfare 2 only has 70 MB of data. Activision has just shipped almost empty discs. What a waste of disc space.
YouTuber Destruction Games recently posted their discovery online. They are part of the Does it play? group which tests physical copies of games to check if these games could be played without an online connection. Modern Warfare 2 seems to have failed to do that.
Many games with physical copies would have at least some data on the disc that would allow players to play single-player mode. Even games with large day-one patches would still have content in the disc enough to play the game. Recently, a few games with physical copies seem to only have a license inside the discs and has no other content in them.
It would be better to just buy the digital copies instead than waste buying the disc that is frankly equivalent to a coaster. At least the digital copy includes the full game.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28, 2022. It will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
