Call of Duty: Vanguard has been officially unveiled this week, with a teaser trailer released yesterday. With the game now an official contender, a well-known gaming journalist is forecasting it to be another best-selling game for Activision Blizzard.
In a post on Twitter, NPD’s executive director Mat Piscatella said that he expects Call of Duty: Vanguard to be this year’s best-selling game in the United States.
He even implied that this should already be expected, saying, “Shocking, I know.”
GameSpot noted that the entries in the Call of Duty franchise have been consistent in edging out competing games in sales throughout its history. The only exceptions were in 2013, when it was overtaken by Grand Theft Auto V, and in 2018, when it lost to Red Dead Redemption II.
In related news, Activision has released the list of studios that have collaborated with Sledgehammer Games in developing Vanguard. The list, as tweeted by Charlie Intel, included Treyarch, Beenox, Raven and High Moon Studios.
The gaming media was set abuzz yesterday when advertisements popped up in both the PlayStation Network and the PS App stating that Vanguard is to be revealed on August 19, Thursday, within Warzone.
Sony Interactive Entertainment later took down the ads, while Activision released the first teaser trailer for the game hours later. The latter also confirmed that more information about Vanguard will be released on August 19 within Warzone as earlier reported.
