Call Of Duty Warzone Fighting Against Hacking, Cheating Uphill Battle

Call of Duty Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale video game and has become one of the best first person shooters to play recently. While that is good, that also invites bad elements who want to exploit the game, which is via hacking and cheating. Game developer Raven Software is one of the developers handling maintenance of the game especially on the cheating side. Creative director Amos Hodge shares what the team is doing to fight against this menace in multiplayer gaming.

Call of Duty Warzone banning cheaters a serious task

Hodge revealed that the team behind the maintenance is constantly making adjustments to fight against hacking in Warzone. They have recently updated their banning procedure and also launched the reporting system to fight against cheaters.

It’s one of those things that we’re taking seriously, and that’s just an uphill battle.

The creative director confessed that every time they would do a security update, the hackers would just break them again. After that they would exploit the game again and cheating happens. It usually happens on cross-play because PC side usually gets the cheats easily done. This has now affected the console side and it has become more visible. The gaming community is now seeing it a lot more, a lot of players would complain, but they are trying their best to fight against such issues.

Hodge bluntly put it that fixing the cheats and then having a result that no one will be able to cheat is just not realistic at all. What they could do is just make updates and security fixes along the way with new encryption. The team also makes sure to listen to the community feedback and base that on the next fixes they could make. This is also the reason why they are letting the players know who are getting banned.

Tournaments will be monitored carefully from now on, Hodge stated. If possible, they would ban players on the spot if they catch them cheating.

There is no perfect solution for game cheating, that much is true, heck for everything. All the developers can do is making the best they can and minimize the cheating as much as possible. When another hack is born, the devs would improve their security measures and encryption.

Call of Duty Warzone is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
