CD Projekt Red Responds To Rumors Regarding Consoles

If you haven’t heard, a while back there’s been some speculation that the reason Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed was because it ran badly on consoles. There was even an interview with a supposed insider saying that this was indeed the case. And from an outsider’s perspective, it would make sense as to why the launch date was moved so far back into the year.

Recently, one of the developers for Cyberpunk 2077 responded to this rumor.

Of course we’re optimizing for the XBox One, and for the Playstation, and for the PC, because that’s what you do in the last stretches of game development. While the game is made, lots of things are unoptimized, because they’re all in flux, changing, and still not finished.

The developer went on to confirm that they are simply polishing the game to ensure that it is as complete as possible. He also went on to say that they have “no hidden agendas.”

The city of dreams…just a few more months away

CD Projekt Red already confirmed themselves a while back that Cyberpunk 2077 is playable from start to finish. No doubt Cyberpunk 2077 is the most anticipated game of the decade. And it’s great to see the developers taking so much time and care to polish their game.

So simple answers like “They delayed the game because of X” might make for a good rumor, but don’t hold a lot of truth. There’s always many reasons. Among them, and I can speak for myself, simply fixing bugs, so the game is as polished as possible. No hidden agendas, just working on making the game better.
