Cosmic Equilibrium Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Raid Guide

The Cosmic Equilibrium Destiny 2 challenge is this week’s featured Root of Nightmares Master challenge. Similar to what it was in its original form, this challenge turns things around in a curious way. If you’re already familiar with how the Macrocosm encounter works, chances are you’ll quickly pick up on what’s needed to complete this challenge.

And as a friendly reminder, this week’s challenge limits your Guardian’s Power Level to 1820, effectively bringing you 20 or so levels under the Raid’s Power Level. Also, the Colossi have been replaced with Barrier Champions. Shield-piercing weapons like the Arbalest are recommended for this challenge.

This Destiny 2 raid challenge guide will solely focus on how to do the Cosmic Equilibrium Challenge. We will assume that you already know how to do the base raid mechanics for this encounter. If not, use this guide to bring you up to speed.

Alrighty, let’s go ahead and see what kind of trouble our Raid Team is going itself into. Remember, it’s all worth it in the end for that sweet Adept loot. (And improving the chance of a Conditional Finality shotgun dropping.)

Cosmic Equilibrium Destiny 2 Raid Challenge Walkthrough

In a normal run of the Macrocosm encounter, players have to move a planet from the right side (Dark Side) to the left side (Light Side) and vice versa until all light planets align on the left side and the dark planets on the dark side. This challenge flips the script on the whole process.

The Cosmic Equilibrium challenge now asks the players to move two planets until there are only Dark planets on the light side and Light planets on the dark side. In other words, doing an inverse of what raiders are normally into.

The best way to do this is to assign 4 players the task of moving the planets point-to-point. It will require two players on both sides to swap through the middle. Coordination through number assignments is very much preferable here. If you are already familiar with the mechanics then these should be doable.

Runners should communicate which of the Triangle edges they are going for so that their partner on the other side can do the same. Other than that, everyone else should be on constant Ad clear duty from the sides and the center.

The primary idea here is for you and your raid team to move one pair of planets on each plate per phase. This is usually the safer route as it requires less coordination compared to moving all planets at once. This means, however, that it’ll take your team longer to get to the damage phase. Thankfully, there’s a crystal above Zo-Aurc that allows them to speed the sequence up while the planets are in motion.

This is the crucial part of the challenge. If done correctly, the plates in the center will start to glow and the damage phase can begin. If your team does not align the planets perfectly before any Indexed planets phase, it will result in an automatic Challenge fail.

The damage phase will remain the same as it always has been. The plates will alternate between Light and Dark, telling you where you should go to avoid death. Be mindful of which side is which. A good rule to remember is that your starting plate will always be the two planets your team moved first.

After doing all the damage you can deal in the 8-second window, Zo’Aurc will reset the board. The cycle repeats again. And they need to be aligned as the challenge demands it or it’s considered a Challenge fail.

Keep up the pressure until Zo’Aurc enters the Last Stand phase and your team uses up all remaining resources and abilities to finally put the boss down for good.

    Cosmic Equilibrium Challenge Reward

Your reward for completing the Raid Challenge is extra raid loot. Additionally, you are to receive an Adept version of Rufus’s Fury Auto Rifle for your efforts. But most importantly progress your Dream Warrior Seal with this challenge complete.

And that’s everything we’ve got for this Cosmic Equilibrium Master Raid Challenge for the Root of Nightmares Destiny 2 Raid. We hope it came in handy for you and your fire team.
