CD Projekt RED has recently released the new Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty trailer featuring its big star plus new details about the upcoming expansion.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Trailer Plus New Info
Today’s new Night City Wire featured a brand new cinematic trailer for the upcoming expansion Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty starring Idris Elba. The episode also showed an array of new information including the changes to gameplay coming with the new expansion, new music, and the official launch date for free Update 2.0.
Freedom, Lies, and Deceit in 7 Years
The new cinematic trailer features the star of expansion Phantom Liberty, Idris Elba, who is known for various movies like Thor: Ragnarok, Luther, The Suicide Squad, and The Wire. It is set seven years before the events of the expansion focusing on his character’s plans to get out of the spy business, how he was betrayed, and seven years later which starts the story of the expansion. There was also footage of behind-the-scenes with the actor discussing each scene.
Gameplay Changes and Sick Builds
Later in the episode, more details were showcased like new elements and changes to gameplay. Game Director Gabe Amatangelo discussed the revamped perk and skill trees, and the new Relic skill that is coming exclusively with the expansion.
The episode revealed three short videos that featured CDPR gameplay designers talking about their favorite character builds: ninja type, hack and slash type, and the heavy solo type. To celebrate, the studio released the Cyberpunk 2077 Build Planner, a free tool that allows players to create and plan their own builds in their browsers. They can explore the changes made to the perk system including the Relic skill tree from Phantom Liberty.
Update 2.0 Release
Cyberpunk 2077 free Update 2.0 will launch on September 21, 2023 for all players who own the game on current-gen consoles and PC. It introduces a revamped police system, redesigned perks, enhanced, cyberware, and more.
New Music Tracks, Community Radio, and Theme Song
Lastly, new music tracks will be added with the upcoming expansion. Composers P.T Adamczyk and Jacek Paciorkowski shared details on how they created the new music for the spy-thriller story. They shared information about the new radio stations included in the game including Growl FM which has a playlist composing entirely of tracks hand-picked from those submitted for a music competition organized for the Cyberpunk 2077 community. The Growl FM documentary will be released on September 18, 2023.
A song written and performed by Dawid Podsiadlo was teased and was revealed to be the theme song for Phantom Liberty. Dawid worked with the studio to record music for the critically acclaimed anime, Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty launches on September 26, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
