Deathloop Haptic Feedback Details on PS5 Revealed

Bethesda Softworks Senior Content Manager Anne Lewis recently posted on PlayStation Blog some details about how Deathloops makes use of Haptic Feedback on the PlayStation 5.

With the DualSense controller, players will feel a different vibe when playing the game. One example given was the PT-6 Spiker, which is a silenced nailgun. They will feel each nail fall into the magazine with granularity every time they reload their weapon. They will also feel the resistance when they press the adaptive trigger as they hold to align to shoot and the recoil after firing.

Low-tier weapons will be harder to handle with being easy to jam or rusty. When it jams, players will feel that the trigger button has been blocked halfway. They will also see an animation that notifies players that the gun is jammed. It will be a momentary setback and will make players have to beat a hasty retreat to hide and let the character unjam the gun.

Moving around will give players a different sensation whether running, sliding, climbing, sneaking, or teleporting through Blackreef. They will even feel the bumps on rough rooftops, or the muted thumping when stepping on snow.

The speaker lets players hear sounds like bullets grazing their bodies. Julianna’s taunts can be heard too. Running out of ammo will trigger a dry click with the gun.
