Only the second Stasis grenade launcher to be introduced in Destiny 2, the New Pacific Epitaph is getting a lot of attention due to having a perk that hasn’t been on a wave frame GL since the very first ones. We’re of course talking about Demolitionist. This is going to be an interesting one, so let’s dive right in.
How to get the New Pacific Epitaph?
The New Pacific Epitach can be acquired after completing encounters in the new Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. Since it comes from the newest dungeon in Destiny 2, players are able to farm encounters until a roll of the weapon drops for them.
Players won’t have an issue getting at least 1 or 2 rolls to drop since the loot pool isn’t all that deep. They will, however, have to contend with a copious amount of armor drops that may take the spot of a potential weapon drop.
Best New Pacific Epitach PvP God Roll
- 1st Column: Quick Launch
- 2nd Column: High-Velocity Rounds
- Reload Speed Masterwork
- Quick Access Sling
- Unrelenting + Kill Clip (A two-shot set up. But once you secure the initial pick, Kill Clip does the rest. All the while, there is a chance for you to activate instant health regen.)
- Shotswap + Harmony (Get a pick or two with another weapon to activate Harmony/Shotswap and you will have a not-so-pleasant surprise ready for the next Guardian in your way.)
- Demolitionist + Collective Action (Works extremely well with the new mod that creates elemental pick-ups and the Stasis subclass. With the right fragments, you can create shards from Stasis Crystals. You can immediately get a damage buff without having to nab a kill first.)
PvP Tip:
As you would have guessed, it’s all about generating additional damage. Wave frame GLs don’t typically one-shot Guardians unless they really have low Resilience. But with these combinations, you are able to one-shot Guardians with 7 or so Resilience. Unrelenting comes into play more often in a 6 vs 6 match.
The setup is similar to Explosive Personality with Disruption Break. The only difference is that you will use your other weapons to weaken a target and then finish them off with the New Pacific Epictach. The only thing this GL is missing is Auto-Loading Holster in the third column.
Best New Pacific Epitach PvE God Roll
- 1st Column: Countermass
- 2nd Column: High-Velocity Rounds
- Reload Speed Masterwork
- Quick Access Sling
- Demolitionist + Redirection (Wombo combo roll that’s good when there are ads alongside a major. Redirection powers you up against Majors after dealing damage to ads. Demolitionist is too good to not have.)
- Demolitionist + Adrenaline Junkie (The classic pairing that makes any grenade launcher a monster with every target tagged.)
- Unrelenting + Collective Action (This combination leans more on the elemental pickups for the power buff. Best used with Stasis grenades.)
PvE Tip:
The New Pacific Epitach is an easy pick for any PvE activity. While other GLs are best suited for quick swapping after use, the New Pacific Epitach’s rolls indicate that it is closer in almost all encounters. You may want to run it with another energy weapon to increase the odds of energy ammo drops. You can rely more on your abilities to damage enemies and use the GL to finish them off.
This weapon’s Origin Trait, Restoration Ritual, is one of the best Origin Traits ever added to Destiny 2. Imagine getting an instant reload for another GL shot. And all you have to do is to perform a finisher or revive an ally. It is crazy strong.
If you like pairing a primary weapon with your GL, we advise looking for a roll that has Lead From Gold. Do note that you will lose out on Demolitionist if you decide to look for that roll.
How good is the New Pacific Epitach?
The New Pacific Epitach is a good grenade launcher, overall. Even more so since it is a Stasis weapon. What really sets this weapon apart from all the other GLs is when you incorporate the Origin Trait and Demolitionist into the mix. If you happen to find a roll with Demo, you may want to hold on to it.
These are the New Pacific Epitach Base Stats before any perks are applied:
- Blast Radius: 100
- Velocity: 73
- Stability: 26
- Handling: 71
- Reload Speed: 71
- Rounds Per Minute: 72
As for the perk pool itself, there really isn’t one that many can consider objectively bad. Even Ensemble has a place if you happen to like playing in groups.
3rd column perks
- Ensemble
- Unrelenting
- Shot Swap
- Lead From Gold
- Demolitionist
- Perpetual Motion
4th column perks
- Pugilist
- Kill Clip
- Harmony
- Collective Action
- Redirection
- Adrenaline Junkie
And that’s everything you need to know about the New Pacific Epitach and its god rolls. We haven’t seen a line of weapons quite like the ones from the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. We really hope that there will be more like them in the near future. Good luck and have fun out there, Guardians.
