Destiny 2 Wellspring Rotation (February 2023)

Destiny 2 Wellspring is a team-based activity that involves either holding off a Hive offensive or assaulting an entrenched Hive position. It all revolves around the artifact at the heart of Savathun’s Throne World, the Wellspring.

To be frank, many players in the Destiny 2 community only run the activity to farm red border Witch Queen weapons. Other than that, there’s no reason to keep doing it outside of pushing a character closer to the level cap. Regardless of public sentiment, Lightfall is only a couple of weeks away, and players want to know ahead of time to plan out their farming schedule.

Where to Access the Destiny 2 Wellspring Activity

Where to Access the Destiny 2 Wellspring Activity

The Wellspring Activity becomes accessible after progressing the Witch Queen campaign by a bit. To access it, open the Destinations menu and on Savathun’s Throne World, go to the right of the screen and you’ll be able to see the button to start the activity.

There are two modes to choose from. The Wellspring is the normal mode, fit for all players around the recommended Power Level of 1540. Master is equivalent to Master in the Vanguard playlist. That means it will include all the modifiers that players need to plan for. In normal mode, the featured weapon is an uncommon drop with no guarantee of red borders. Master increases the chance of the weapons with higher chances of red borders but there’s no guarantee for it.

    Wellspring Weapon Rotation:

    • Tarnation grenade launcher
    • Fel Taradiddle Combat Bow
    • Father’s Sin Sniper Sin
    • Come to Pass Auto Rifle

The Wellspring runs on a 4-weapon rotation across 4 days. It contains 4 weapons from the Witch Queen set. And from what I can remember, the rotation has remained unchanged over the course of the year.

How to Get the Rest of the Witch Queen Red Border Weapons

How to Get the Rest of the Witch Queen Red Border Weapons

There is no reliable way of getting red borders for the rest of the weapons in the collection outside of the Witch Queen Campaign. You’ll have to do some tedious grinding and pray to the RNG gods that a red border weapon drops for you.

This applies to the following weapons:

    • Empirical Evidence Sidearm
    • Forensic Nightmare Submachine Gun
    • Likely Suspect Fusion Rifle
    • Pointed Inquiry Scout Rifle
    • Red Herring Rocket Launcher

For the most part, the most likely method of getting red borders is to hunt down Lucent Hive Knights within the castle grounds. The task is tedious, especially if there’s an entire catalog to fill. What stings the most is that you are completely at the mercy of RNG and could be stuck for long stretches of time trying to collect that final couple of red borders.

And that’s everything you need to know about the Wellspring rotation for the rest of the month. We don’t know what’s going to happen when Lightfall does drop but we’ll have new articles on the new activities that are coming to the game for the rest of 2023.

Check out this video from Youtuber Aztecross where he goes through in detail all the weapons that were released as part of the Witch Queen expansion.
