How to Get to Dark Wood in Diablo 2 Resurrected?
You can reach the Dark Wood area by just traveling through the Underground Passage that is located in the Stony Field. Travel first to Stony Field, which is before Cold Plains, and home to the Cairn Stones, and walk around until you complete the map. Since the map is randomly generated, there is only one way to know the next area is, which is to first complete this map area first. Find the entrance somewhere at the map edges.
Once the entrance of the Underground Passage is found, enter it and complete its two levels. The golden chest can be found at level 2 and sometimes the exit for Dark Wood can be found on the first level, in addition, you could get Diablo 2 runewords.
After exiting the passage, you are now in Dark Wood. There are several new monsters that you will encounter here that are not available in the earlier areas of the game.
What to Expect in Dark Wood?
There are several things to discover in the Dark Wood area. One of which is an important part of the story, the Tree of Inifuss, an important objective in the quest of The Search for Cain.
There are also several new monsters to watch out for. These are the Carver, Skeleton Archer, Spike Fiend, Vile Hunter, and the Vile Lancer. There is a super unique monster to find here, which is the Treehead Woodfist and its Brute minions. Killing this super unique monster will reward you with very rare items, equipment, and weapons that can be used for your journey.
You can also find a waypoint here, which will be easier for you to travel back to camp to sell extra items or restock on health and mana potions. The area level for this map are as follows: Normal mode is level 5, Nightmare mode is 38, and Hell mode is 68.
What is the Next Area?
After completing the Dark Wood map, expect a new entrance for another area of the game, which is the Black Marsh. New monsters and items await you there as well. Having a waypoint in the Dark Wood area is the best place to retreat to especially when you get overwhelmed by stronger monsters in the next one. Just come back here and enter the waypoint to safely return to camp and get healed by Akara, the leader of the Rogues and sells potions.
