Game producer Habu Kazumasa recently talked to a gaming publication about the settings for upcoming video game Digimon Survive.
Digimon Survive details on settings, origins
Kazumasa talked about what fans can expect in the game. The game’s plot will be centered on how the Digimon have interacted with humans and helped shape the different mythos. He mentions that, while Digimon are called digital monsters due to the digital devices needed to see them, they have always been around and interacted with humanity.
There is a reason why Agumon is the player’s partner Digimon. The reason was simple: the game takes some cues from the animated series. He points out that the main character’s partner was Agumon in that TV show, so he thought it would be a good idea to do the same for the game. The other characters that join the party will have Digimon that has not gotten any screentime a lot yet still have matching personalities with the human character.
Digivolving
One of the major features of the franchise is that the Digimon can digivolve into several different forms depending on the factors it was given. Agumon can have different forms it can take and each of them can split off into several more forms. This will be reflected in the game with the players’ Agumon digivolving depending on intimacy points and karma points. He at least explained that the intimacy points will be gained via dialogue choices, while karma points can be gained via decisions in combat.
The upcoming game will launch on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It will be released sometime in 2020.
