Capcom’s popular dino survival horror games, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, are now available on GOG.com, all thanks to its GOG Preservation Program — an initiative run by the company to preserve titles by maintaining and making them playable on modern PC gaming hardware.
Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 were both available on PC in 2000 and 2002 respectively. Since then, both games have been unavailable for purchase on any of the digital storefronts like Steam. Most users have resorted to emulation to play both games. However, Sony’s PlayStation Classic Catalogue has made the games available through its mid and higher-tier PlayStation Plus subscriptions, emulating the original versions of Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 without any quality of life improvements.
With GOG’s Preservation Program, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 received numerous improvements, such as full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems, new rendering options, improved DirectX rendering, and more.
GOG has been making waves about video game preservation and we all support the company’s direction and its love for games. We hope to see more classic games get the same support and love as all the 102 games in the GOG Preservation Program.
