Packed explosives are one of the items in Dredge that have a very special use. These explosives can be set on rubble to open up new waterways that often lead to more fishing and dredging spots or even treasure.

Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to get explosives in Dredge.

How to Get Explosives in Dredge?

To get explosives in Dredge, simply follow the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Go to Gale Cliffs Ruins - How to Get Explosives in Dredge

Step 1: Go to Gale Cliffs Ruins

Make your way to the Ruins at Gale Cliffs where you will meet the Hermit. He will tell you about the boulders blocking the way to your next relic and that you will need explosives to move them out of the way. He will point you over to Ingfell, where his brother used to make explosives.

    Step 2: Go to Ingfell

Go over to Ingfell and talk to the Retired Whaler. Before he can make explosives for you, you will need to retrieve their Family Crest first.

Step 3: Retrieve the Family Crest

You will need to travel to O3, where there is a dredging spot that has the Family Crest down in the depths of the water. You will have to be careful when traveling to this spot, as there is a large, aggressive fish that will attack you as soon as it spots you.

To make sure that you do not get attacked while dredging, you will have to lure the fish away from the area first with the help of your Haste ability. Once it is far away from the dredging area, outmaneuver it and go straight back to the spot. You also have to make sure to not put yourself in a dead end within the maze of rocks, so it would help to survey the area first. If you manage to grab the crest but then your hull takes a hit, there is a possibility that you lose the crest and have to reload the game from your last save point.

Once you have the crest, transport it back to the Retired Whaler. He will then ask for you to set off an explosive that he has already placed near one of the channels.

Step 4: Set off the explosive - How to Get Explosives in Dredge

Step 4: Set off the explosive

Make your way to the channel at O3 and you will see the boulders with yellow flags on them. Interact with the boulders to blow up the explosives and clear the area. Then head back to the Retired Whaler to report your progress.

Step 5: Fetch the Hermit - How to Get Explosives in Dredge

    Step 5: Fetch the Hermit

Go to the Hermit’s house and fetch him for his journey back to Ingfell. Clear up enough space in your boat to allow the Hermit to ride it. Be careful when transporting him, as any hull damage might throw the Hermit overboard and kill him.

Step 5: Fetch the Hermit - How to Get Explosives in Dredge

After you take the Hermit back to Ingfell, the Retired Whaler will thank you and give you a Packed Explosive for free. You can also purchase more explosives by going to the Whaling Yards.
