Following a hellish encounter with Elena and Rude in FF7 Rebirth’s “Chapter 3: Deeper Into the Darkness,” Barret and Red XIII plummet to the depths of the mythril mine. In order to get back together with Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith, players will have to take on a new mission called “Escape the Depths,” where they must climb back up and search for the exit.

Once you regain control after the cutscene, you’ll play as Barret, accompanied by Red XIII. Look to your left to find a vending machine and a nearby chest that contains the Renegade’s Collar. Also, make use of the rest station beside the vending machine for a quick recovery.
After that, keep going northeast along the route up to the point where you reach the huge tree trunk. Dive into the water, swim to the other side, and then ascend the ledges while going right. You’ll find horizontal green-protruding rocks that you can latch on to. Use it to scale up the wall.
Once you reach the top, use Barret’s gun to break the gray rocks next to the glowing mythril. This will open up a path to your right, where you can climb the tree and reach the Excavation Site.
Follow the railroad tracks up ahead until you reach a dead end where you can find an inaccessible ledge near a mine cart and a lever. Interact with the lever to switch the mine tracks and pull/push the mine cart near the ledge into a position where you can get up the ledge.
Beyond this point, you must continue through the tunnels in order to defeat the Ogre guarding the area. After that, you can smash through the boulder that’s blocking your path forward.
