Square Enix Producer Yoshinori Kitase released an update on the development of upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Kitase revealed that the whole staff is still making the next game via remote working due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even if that is the situation, he does not think it will have a big impact on the development in the long term.
Kitase continues:
At this current time, the team are still making the next game via remote working. Our performance will temporarily drop below 100% efficiency because of this, but I do not think there should be a big impact in the long term. I sincerely hope that Final Fantasy VII Remake can provide those who are forced to endure the stress of living under lockdown a moment of relief and enjoyment in these trying times.
Kitase also shared his sympathies for the people who are affected with the COVID-19 pandemic. He did not expect that when they revealed the release date it was also the time the global pandemic was happening. It blindsided them.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is now available exclusively on PlayStation 4. Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 is now in development with no platforms announced.
