Fire Emblem: Fates petting mini-game got removed in the west

In the original Japanese release of Fire Emblem:Fates, it was allowed to stoke/pet the character with the 3DS’ lower screen. For the west on the other hand, Nintendo decided to remove this feature.

The company confirmed that “petting” has been totally removed. In the statement, a Nintendo representative explained to Kotaku the reason and was also defending  the original intent of the Japanese version:

“Yes, that is the case [that petting isn’t in the English version]. You might have heard somewhat misinterpreted or exaggerated information about the Japanese original game, but even in the Japanese original version, we have not included any features which are considered inappropriate in Japan.”

Here’s examples of the petting/stroking. Kinda feels like Pokémon-Amie if you ask me.
