New details have appeared that seems to explain why the God of War Ragnarok release date reveal was delayed.
Bloomberg Journalist Jason Schreier recently shared interesting information about the delay of revealing the release date of upcoming video game God of War Ragnarok. He reiterates that the release date is still on track and has not been delayed at all. It seems everyone was quite wrong about their assumption of that and there was actually a reason for the reveal delay, well, sort of.
According to Schreier, it seems to be related to the controversial decision of the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade case. The US was up at arms due to that and everything was chaotic. If they would have announced it on June 30, 2022, it would have just added fuel to the already bursting bonfire.
Santa Monic Studios seems to be not the one behind the delay and many believe it to be Sony. There have been several cases where Sony had to delay a big announcement because there was a major political event that was happening. One case was about the PS5 reveal that got delayed by Sony because it was just after George Floyd’s murder. Many protests happened after that and it seemed Sony delayed the reveal so they could announce it at a less chaotic time.
This seems to be what is happening to the God of War Ragnarok release date reveal. It is possible that the big reveal will be happening in a couple more weeks where protests will be lesser.
Sony nor Santa Monica Studio have not made any statements to confirm speculations, but this seems to be the likely case. Both groups will not confirm or deny these allegations too.
God of War Ragnarok launches in 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
