Gunnora’s Axe God Roll for PvP and PvP: Destiny 2 Iron Banner Guide

Gunnora’s Axe is the other new weapon added to Iron Banner in Season 19. And while both this gun and Dark Decider can roll with Voltshot, it seems like Gunnora’s Axe is the better weapon to have it. It also is the first shotgun to have the perk too so that sort of makes it special.

The thing you need to know about this weapon beforehand is that it has high a Handling stat, which makes sense considering this weapon was created with PvP in mind. Additionally, this weapon has a very low aim assist cone. This affects both mouse & keyboard and controller. You’ll feel it a lot more if you compare the shotguns with each other.

Third Column Perks:

  • Slickdraw
  • Threat Detector
  • Auto-loading Holster
  • Surplus
  • Hip-fire Grip
  • Moving Target

The only viable perks in the third column are Threat Detector, Auto-loading Holster, or Moving Target. Surplus is an ok perk to have but the moment you use an ability, you lose a lot of your takedown potential. However, if you can make something work with Slickdraw and Hip-fire Grip, then that’s good.

Fourth Column Perks:

  • Iron Reach
  • Snapshot Sights
  • Opening Shot
  • Eye of the Storm
  • Vorpal Weapon
  • Voltshot

Voltshot is what you want to have in the fourth column, even in PvP. It’s kind of situational but once you get the flow for it, it’s actually really fun. In terms of PvE, there’s nothing on the list that can match this perk. Vorpal Weapon is a distant second.

For PvP, you’ll want to aim for Opening Shot or Eye of the Storm. Opening Shot is king because it gives +20 Aim Assist and +25 Range to the first shot in the encounter. On the other hand, Eye of the Storm is amazing in the heat of battle, provided you live long enough to make use of it.

A Snapshot Sights roll is ok too since it’s a precision slug shotgun.

God Roll

For PvE, we’re once again going for Voltshot. And it’s going to be a general recommendation for either. From what we’ve been told, the voltshot multiplier on shotguns is incredibly high. After the first shot jolts a target, we’re looking at a 2x multiplier for damage, which is impressive.

We’re pairing this with Threat Detector as it increases reload speed by 55 if an enemy is in close proximity to you.

All in all, the god roll you’re looking for in PvE looks something similar to this:

  • Fluted Barrel
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Threat Detector
  • Voltshot

But if you weren’t favored by the Iron Lords, any other perks that grant Range and Reload Speed are acceptable. Either reload speed or range is going to be your preferred Masterworks.

For endgame content like Grandmaster Nightfalls and Raids, a roll that comes with Autoloading Holster and Vorpal Weapon is what you’re looking for. The first and second perks don’t matter so much with this roll.

Moving on to PvP, the god roll for this weapon is far less forgiving. You’ll need certain rolls to get to the level most would consider competitive. Firstly, it’s going to need Opening Shot to give you that stat bump at the beginning of a fight. You’ll want to pair this with Moving Target to make up for its quirkiness when it comes to keeping targets at the center.

For a PvP god roll, you’re looking at something in the neighborhood of:

  • Fullbore Barrel
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Moving Target
  • Opening Shot
  • Range Masterwork

Conclusion:

Gunnora’s Axe is a rare all-around slug shotgun that doesn’t come up very often. For PvP, it’s a solid choice but you’ll have to put in a little more work to make up for the low aim assist stat.

If you’re rocking this weapon in PvE, just know that you’ll have to be rocking some shotgun mods cause you’ll be burning through your ammo reserves even if you know how to time jolt to save ammo.
