Warner Bros Discovery, HBO’s parent company, has now revealed that the ninth and final episode of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 1 has now broken its viewership record even though it was airing at the same time as the Oscars.
According to Variety, it was revealed that the final episode of HBO’s The Last of US titled “Look for the Light” has gotten 8.2 million viewers for its initial airing across HBO Max and more. This is by far the highest rating for the first airing of an episode in the series. This has broken the 8.1 million viewers which was the record for the previous episode.
HBO also revealed that The Last of Us is now the most-watched show in the history of the company in Europe and Latin America. In the US though, the series did not topple the numbers that the spin-off Game of Thrones House of the Dragon. Still, the growth is quite strong for the video game adaptation.
It was also confirmed that The Last of Us has been renewed for Season 2.
