Rick and Morty and High on Life Creator Justin Roiland has been charged with domestic violence charges.
Roiland is currently facing charges of felony domestic violence in California. Media outlet NBC News confirms that he has been charged with one count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and /or deceit.
These charges are actually connected with 2020 incident that involved a woman that Roiland was dating at that time.
Reports say Roiland was arrested and then released on a $50,000 bond in August 2020 and arraigned in October 2020.
At that time, Roiland pleaded not guilty to the charges. He presented himself in court on Thursday for a pre-trial hearing. No trial date has been set yet.
In a statement, Roiland’s attorneys promised to clear his name and help him move forward as soon as possible.
Justin Roiland is known as the co-creator and star of Rick and Morty, a popular adult animated comedy TV series. He co-founded and now CEO of Squanch Games that developed High of Life.
