The Wand Customization feature in Hogwarts Legacy offers players the opportunity to tailor their wands to their own preferences. While there are many different wand designs, styles, and cores to pick from, chances are you’ll stick with the same one the whole game. You’ll have to make due with a secondhand wand at first, but you’ll eventually head to Ollivander’s to find the perfect one.

In this guide, we will be looking at all the wand customization options available in Hogwarts Legacy.

All Hogwarts Legacy Wand Customization Options

Shortly after arriving at Ollivanders in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll try out a variety of wands during the cutscene and will eventually have access to customize your own wand.

If you have your Harry Potter Fan Club and WB Games accounts linked, you will be given the wand that is tied to your HPFC profile. If you haven't yet, you’ll be presented with a wand with random features. You can either buy the wand that was selected for you, or modify its properties before making a final purchase.

Hogwarts Legacy offers the following Wand Customization Options:

    • Wand Style
    • Wood Type
    • Wand Core
    • Wand Handles

    All Wand Core Options

The Wand Core is the part of a wand that has the largest impact on its effectiveness and behavior in the Wizarding World. The Wand Core you choose determines the Wand’s properties, like how strong its magic is, how loyal it is to its owners, and whether or not it can act on its own.

For Hogwarts Legacy, you can only use three of the game’s most powerful and recognizable cores:

    • Dragon Heartstring – Dragon heartstring that serves as the core of a wand, known for producing powerful magic.
    • Unicorn Hair – The hair of a unicorn that serves as the core of a wand, known for producing consistent magic.
    • Phoenix Feather – The feather of a phoenix that serves as the core of a wand, capable of producing a great range of magic.

    Wand Handles

As you play, you’ll find new wand handles, and you’ll be able to swap them out at any time from the gear menu.

Additionally, completing a side quest called “Flying Off The Shelves” nets you an Avian-Grey Wand handle.

Can you Change and Get a new Wand in Hogwarts Legacy?

Once you’ve decided on and purchased a wand from Ollivander for a given character, you won’t be able to switch wands at any time later on. This suggests that Hogwarts Legacy will give you some say in the look and feel of your wand before you commit to a final design.
