Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan confirmed that one of the most anticipated sequels, Horizon Forbidden West is still launching within this year.
In an exclusive interview with media outlet GQ, Ryan shared an update that confirms the release of the video game sequel. After being asked about delays especially with upcoming game Returnal, he confirmed that three PlayStation exclusive games are still launching within the year.
Here’s Ryan’s statement:
Yeah, we’re feeling pretty good about Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West. And, you know, there are two approaches to this: you can either hold the date and put out the game irrespective of quality or you can ship it when it’s right. We have always taken the latter approach. There have been some fairly high-profile instances of publishers trying the former approach.
This confirms that the sequel’s release is still right on track and development is going well. Ryan did say that they will ship it when it is right, which could mean if it still needs improvement, it could get delayed. So far though, the release is still this year.
Horizon Forbidden West will launch in 2021 for PlayStation 4 and PS5.
