In a new development update at Gamescom Opening Night Live, it was confirmed that upcoming and most anticipated video game Horizon: Forbidden West has been delayed to 2022.
According to IGN, Game Director Mathijs de Jonge shared on the ongoing event that Horizon: Forbidden West has been delayed and now it will be released on February 18, 2022. It will be available on PlayStation 4 and PS5.
According to de Jonge, the decision to move the release date of the game to 2022 was not easy for them. He cited that they valued a health work and life balance for the team as they developed the sequel, which is the reason why they chose to move the launch to next year.
The game director thanked the fans for the unwavering support for the game series and this upcoming title. The team from Guerilla Games, he said, knows how everyone was looking forward to this game this year. “Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography, and videos have meant the world to all of us,” he shared.
Hopefully, this is the only delay and by that time, the game will be fully functional and enjoyable to play. Rushing through releases is never a good thing, just like what happened to Cyberpunk 2077.
There have been rumors that the game would be delayed to next year, and this has officially confirmed it unfortunately.
The good news is that pre-orders for Horizon: Forbidden West will be available soon, September 2, 2021. It was also announced that Horizon Zero Dawn will be getting a 4K 60 FPS patch while playing on the PS5.
