How unique the Rotom is can’t be overstated in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. For one, this electric and ghost type Pokémon can switch forms that are inspired by electrical appliances.

If you have a Rotom, you can actually make it change forms in the middle of combat. You can even turn Rotom into a plasma-type should you wish. Here how you get every Rotom Form in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

    Rotom Ability and Stats

Rotom’s Levitate ability makes it immune to Ground-type attacks.

    Here are Rotom’s stats:

    How to Get Rotom Forms

In order to get Rotom Forms, you’re going to have to finish Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl first for reasons stated below. Here’s the full steps into getting the Rotom Forms.

Before you do any of these, we highly recommend taking level 10-14 Pokémon with you, otherwise you might accidentally KO the Lvl 15 Rotom and you’ll never encounter it again.

    Rotom Forms

    Go to the Eterna Forest

Starting from the Eterna City head to Route 205 and enter the Eterna Forest.

    Go to the Old Chateau

You’re going to need a Pokémon that knows HM Cut with you. Cut the tree blocking the way near the exit of the forest to enter the Old Chateau.

Head Upstairs Then Enter the Middle Doorway

This will lead you to multiple doors. Take the first door on the left.

    Battle and Capture Rotom

After interacting with the TV in the room you’re in, you’ll encounter Rotom. Battle and then capture it. This will be the only time you’ll encounter this Pokémon so be sure that you capture it.

We advise using Pokémon below level 14 to ensure you don’t one-hit KO Rotom as it will be at Lvl 15. After capturing Rotom, you’ll be given a Secret Key.

    Battling Rotom

    Go Back to Eterna City

After you get the Secret Key, head back to Eterna City where you need to go to the Galactic HQ. On the top left of the main room will be a secret doorway you can interact with. The Secret Key you got from Rotom should open it right away.

    Secret Room Location

    Interact with the Appliances

This room is filled with appliances. However, they are anything but decoration. You can actually interact with them. They’ll each give you a Rotom Catalog item that will unlock new Rotom Forms.

    Secret Room

And now you know how to get Rotom Forms!

    How to Change Rotom Forms

To change Rotom Forms, you simply have to use the Rotom Catalogue in your Items. After you followed the steps above these should appear in your inventory. You can use them any time.

    Where to Get Rotom

Rotom is a unique Pokémon in the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. You’ll only encounter it once in the entire game and that’s after you finish it and receive the National Dex. Make sure not to miss your chance to capture Rotom, as it is gone for good after your first encounter.

In lieu of the steps above, you can acquire Rotom in the Old Chateau located in the Eterna Forest. Rotom is one of the post-game content so you can only get him after the end of the game.

    Rotom Weaknesses and Resistances

Ground, ghost, and dark type moves will do twice as much damage against Rotom.

Rotom is especially resistant to normal and fighting type attacks.

    How to Defeat Rotom

Despite the fact that Rotom is immune to Ground-type attacks thanks to its Levitate ability, it can still be damaged by certain Ground-type moves such as Thousand Arrows. If you have Pokémon that can use Ground-type attacks that can bypass Levitate, we suggest that you use them. Though at this point in Brilliant Light and Shining Diamond you may not need to go through the trouble of preparing for this fight at all.

You’re probably carrying Pokémon above Lvl 60 as the game requires you to finish the main story before you can battle the Lvl 15 Rotom. Don’t bother using any attacks as you’ll just one-hit KO Rotom and it’ll be gone for good. We recommend just throwing Poké Balls at it until capture.
