Tate Multimedia has today published a new trailer showcasing the cast of characters set to feature in the forthcoming platformer Kao the Kangaroo, which will debut on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on May 27th, 2022.
Said trailer casts light on Kao’s mentor and sparring partner Walt, his mother – the “Iron Lady” – Marlene, and his best friend and notorious inventor Gadget.

Walt the Mentor
- Learned to fight before he could walk. A master fighter, Walt is a mentor to Kao and to his father. He knows what makes a great champion… and maybe Kao will too!
Marlene the Mother
- Marlene is the Iron Lady of the Kangaroo Village – She’s better at her true feelings behind her stern gaze, but deep down, she’s a caring and loving mom. Family comes first.
Gadget the Friend
- Gadget enjoys tinkering, thinking, and inventing… even if those inventions lack the thought of a genius. His best invention was his friendship with Kao.
About Kao the Kangaroo
Kao – pronounced K-O – launched his first adventure on Dreamcast back in the year 2000. Now, two decades on, Tate Multimedia is rebooting Kao with his biggest adventure yet. The original Kao the Kangaroo series collectively sold more than 700,000 units worldwide, with four games in total having launched across multiple platforms.
In his latest release, Kao will use his boxing gloves to punch a path through his adversaries, jabbing his way through the obstacles ahead as he pummels his way to glory.
