Velan Studios has recently announced that live service video game Knockout City shutting down servers soon.
It was recently announced by the developers that Season 9 will be Knockout City’s final season, which meant no more seasons or new content will be released in the future. On the morning of June 6, 2023, over two years after the initial launch of the game, all servers worldwide will be shut down and the game will not be playable anymore.
The developers said that it was an extremely difficult decision for them to announce Knockout City shutting down, but it was a necessary and important one for them. They did promise that there will be a lot of new updates coming to the game before they fully shut down the game.
For Season 9, the developers are planning tons of new content for the perfect send-off before Knockout City shutting down. They are even planning to release a private server version on PC so the game could live on forever for players who are interested.
Schedule Before Knockout City Shutting Down
Here are the developers’ plans for the game for the final months of Knockout City:
February 28, 2023, Season 9 of the game will start with the release of the final planned update, version 9.0. This season will be 12 weeks long with six back-to-back events that will feature new cosmetics, fresh new twists on playlists, a whole new event focused exclusively on League Play, and two-week Midnight Madness where the community will choose the two Playlists they want to play to close out the last Season. There will be a new map for the season-themed Brawl Pass and Deep Space Dispatch storyline. More details will be coming in a few weeks.
Also later this month, all real-money transactions will be removed from the game. Players cannot buy Holobux, the Deluxe Bundle, or either of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bundles on any platform. Season 9 will be jam-packed with rewards for XP, Style Chips, and thousands of Holobux. Every event will feature a massive sale shop with huge discounts and almost every cosmetic that was sold before will make its way into one of these sale shops. The rewards for League Play, Daily Login Bonuses, and the brawl Pass has been increased and the price of the Premium Brawl Pass has been reduced to just 50 Holobux, which can be earned in the Free Pass.
On May 23, 2023, Season 9 will end and the final 2-week farewell event will begin, which will be called Thanks for the Kos. It will feature Triple XP, massive rewards, and the return of Superpowers: Power Grab playlist. The event ends on June 6, 2023 at 12 PM UTC, and the servers will be permanently shut down. The game will need to connect to servers to function, which means it will become unplayable on all platforms and players will not be able to progress past the title screen.
