I always think about what to write about on Mondays, the day of the week that I find stressful but sometimes doesn’t. What relates to this is one of the bosses I have encountered in a game. And that game is Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries, a dark-themed fantasy game that was released March 17. If you want to read the review of the game, read it here.

This week I finished Woolfe The Red Hood Diaries. There are times when you don’t notice any stress levels during boss battles, and that was the experience I had with the final boss in The Red Hood Diaries. Spoiler Alert for those who didn’t play the game! Don’t continue to read if you don’t want read spoilers.

B.B Woolfe, also known as Big Bad Wolf from the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, is the final boss in Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries. In the game, he is the CEO and founder of Woolfe Industries. The difficulty level of this final boss was a good example of the statement I mentioned about feeling stressed without noticing it. The battle lasted about almost 14 minutes if I remembered it right.

Woolfe literally absorbed his evil grin.

The final boss stage started off with a cutscene showing B.B Woolfe’s attempt to kill Granny. Shortly after the cutscene, the objective was to simply defend Granny from waves of wolves. After defending the helpless Granny, I get to fight Woolfe and his moving magical electric bolts and those shadow hands that tries to grab you from the ground. It was easy to avoid those attacks from Woolfe, I just simply hit him with a heavy attack and some special attacks then jump away from him. The boss fight got reptitive, easy, and predictable. And because of that, the final boss fight didn’t make any significant or momentous feeling of accomplishment. Even the death cutscene of B.B Woolfe wasn’t epic or memorable. It was honestly disappointing.

What I’m trying to say is that the developers should have made the boss fight challenging to make the ending unique and memorable. B.B Woolfe was a great boss character and the model design gave out that classic epic villain aura. Unfortunately, the greatness of the menacing B.B Woolfe was wasted because of some poor ending cutscene and boss fight.
