Chapter Objectives:
The chapter starts up with Kasuga who seemingly got detained for questioning in a police station.
The scene then changes to a flashback when Kasuga arrived at Akane’s house. When he entered the house, he was not met by Akane, but by a girl who introduced herself as Chitose, Akane’s helper, or so she said.
Chitose then welcomed Kasuga to stay into the house and offered to stay the night since Akane won’t be back until the next day. The two then shared drinks, but Kasuga unexpectedly passes out after taking a drink that Chitose spiked.
Kasuga then found himself waking up in the middle of a busy beach, fully naked. It was shortly after that he was brought to the station by the police.
Despite Kasuga’s pleas, the officer interrogating him does not believe his statement. The officer then plans to make Kasuga a suspect in one of their cold cases just to get his case closed right away.
As Kasuga is being escorted into his cell, he manages to butt the head of the officer and runs out of the station. You then regain control of Kasuga as you guide him through the streets to get away from the chasing officers.
Run from the cops!
Make a run through the streets while avoiding the cops. The path is already pre-set and the game will gently nudge you to take the right turn, so simply run until you cross the street.
After shaking off the pursuers, Kasuga then gets stopped by a familiar voice who happens to be Kiryu. Kiryu then takes off the cuffs from Kasuga’s hands and takes him to his car for safety.
Kiryu then shares some details about his job in Hawaii. Kiryu offers to take Kasuga to his destination, but since Kasuga lost everything after he blacked out, he once again lost the address to Akane’s house. He plans to go back there to get some clues on how to find Chitose and recover his stuff. The two then arrive at the town where Kiryu stays.
Kiryu will also join your party as a new member.
Head to Kiryu’s usual spot
Next, follow the marker to reach the Revolver Bar which will serve as your safe house for this part of town. But before you can get in, you will have to deal with the thugs that are blocking the entrance to the bar.
During this fight, you will get to learn about Kiryu’s different fighting styles. You can freely switch to any of these three during Kiryu’s turn. Use these fighting styles depending on the situation of the fight.
Check out Yamabiko
After the fight, Kiryu suggests that you should get new gear to prepare for the fights ahead. Check out Yamabiko to purchase better gear for both characters.
Visit Kiryu’s usual spot
Head inside the Revolve Bar where you will meet the Bartender. There are a couple of activities to do in the bar such as sing karaoke, reminisce, or listen to the radio. Check out the bathroom to find an Ethereal Egesta, which is a crafting material that you’ll need in the future.
Talk to Kiryu before dinner
Talk to Kiryu by the bar to get dinner and have another conversation. Doing so will deepen your friendship with Kiryu and introduce you to the Bond mechanic. Increasing bonds between your party members will unlock tag team skills and combo attacks.
The following day, Kasuga finds himself asleep at the second floor of the bar. As he goes down, the bartender offers the second floor as a resting area should Kasuga need it.
Once you exit the bar, you will be met by Kei, a worker at Revolver Bar, and you will also start the Substory #5: Welcome to Hawaii, MFer!. You will also encounter your first timed selection event where you only have a few seconds to answer. In this instance, choosing to reply “Aloha!” will get you +30 Charisma, while choosing the other replies or not replying at all will get you nothing.
Another mechanic that you’ll unlock is the Aloha Links which allows you to befriend people in the game. People that you can befriend have special icons on top of their heads, and waving to them will increase their friend gauge. Maxing their friend gauge will turn them into best buddies which will help Kasuga improve his personality traits.
Before Kei heads inside the bar, she also shares her Aloha Links profile to you.
At this point, you can spend some time exploring West Waikiki and complete the substories in the area or grind your XP to get your characters stronger. Be on the look out for stronger enemies that have pink markers as their difficulty level jump significantly higher.
These are the other substories that can be encountered in West Waikiki:
- Substory #6: Surfin’ the Streets!
- Substory #7: Miss Match
- Substory #8: Snap Those Sickos
- Substory #9: A Love as Sweet as Lemons

Catch a ride in Kiryu’s car
Follow the marker to Kiryu’s car to ride back to Akane’s house.
Back in Akane’s house, Kasuga searches for clues, but they don’t see anything or anyone. Kiryu then finds out that the Akane that Kasuga has been looking for is the same person that he has been ordered to hunt down.
Shortly after, Yamai and his men also arrive at the house to look for Akane. Kasuga and Kiryu make their escape through the back of the house, but they are spotted by Tomizawa.
In a bold attempt, Kasuga tries to talk to Tomizawa to lower his gun, leave Yamai and join them instead. Yamai and his men catches up to them and Yamai orders Tomizawa to shoot, but Tomizawa shoots at Yamai’s way instead and decides to team up with Kasuga.
A fight then ensues. After defeating all of Yamai’s men, the three then make their escape back into the city. They then ask Tomizawa about why Yamai is also looking for Akane, but he does not have an idea. For now, the three decide to stay in Kiryu’s hotel for the night.
Go to Kiryu’s hotel
You’ll gain control over Kasuga once again. Before heading into the hotel, you can take the time to explore the city.
Since you’re at Little Tokyo, head over to the shrine where you will find a paper blessing. You will then meet Kamulop the mascot once again who asks for your help in recovering the other paper blessings scattered across the city.
Swing by the area near Revolver Bar and you will find enemies that have crown marks on them. These enemies are usually stronger than the usual thugs and can put up a fight. Defeating these enemies will usually reward a Safe Key which can open a safe that is right by the area they are at.
Once you arrive at the hotel, an old man bumps into Kiryu and steals his wallet. The three then immediately chase the man down the streets.
During the chase, you will be controlling Kasuga as you run through the streets. There will be several quick-time events that you will have to perform in order to avoid the obstacles in the way. Eventually, you will catch up with the thief and retrieve the stolen wallet. Kiryu also decides to let the man go.
Back in the hotel, the three talk about what they are going to do next. They decide on looking for Chitose as a lead and in order to do so, they decide to find where Kasuga’s passport may have been sold to. Tomizawa knows a guy who buys stolen goods, but he is against the idea of going out to the guy right then and there.
Tomizawa then shows the two the men that are part of the Barracuda gang who roam the streets at that time. They also see the thief from earlier who tries to steal from one of the gang members, but he ends up getting caught and dragged into an alley.
Go into the alley
Kiryu and Kasuga run out of the hotel to try and save the guy. Back in the streets, head towards the marked area to reach the alley. Sadly, you will fail to save the guy as he gets killed by the gang members by the time you arrive.
Look for the taco truck
The following day, follow the marker to reach the taco truck. You will then meet Jeff who runs the taco truck and also secretly buys off stolen goods. The three ask Jeff if he has seen Chitose and if she has sold Kasuga’s passport to him, but Jeff remains coy and won’t give much information for free. The group then thinks that they’re being rinsed and looks for another way to get a hold of Chitose.
An old man overhears them talking about Chitose and offers a leaflet of a business where he claims to have seen Chitose work in. This will then start the Substory #4: Busted!
Kasuga gives the business a call and asks for Chitose. However, the Chitose who arrives is a totally different person. Just then, a group of thugs picks a fight.
During this fight, you will unlock the Poundmates feature where you can call on a Poundmate to help you in a fight for a price. For this fight, calling in Chitose will not cost anything and she can help dish out a wide attack.
Make some cash at Aloha Beach
After the fight, the group figures that they need to pay Jeff $30 for the info, but they also want to make sure that they have enough money left. So the next objective is to head over to the beach and do the delivery gig for some quick cash. This objective is still mandatory even if you have more than enough money in your wallet.
Head over to the marked area near the beach to meet up with Charlie who will get you started with the delivery gig. Talking to him will also start the Substory #3: Crazy Money where all you need to do is to complete one crazy delivery and meet the quota within the given time.
In this side job, you will be tasked to collect food and deliver them to hungry customers with the help of your bike. But in order to meet the quota in time, you will have to do crazy stunts along the way; the crazier the stunt you pull, the more bonus you get per delivery. You will need to earn $4,000 to meet the quota.
Once you have met the quota and complete the round, Charlie will reward you with $30. He will also become available as a Poundmate.
Head back to the taco truck
Go back to Jeff at his taco truck and give him the money. Jeff then divulges that Chitose has approached him, not to sell Kasuga’s passport, but to ask if she can use it to go inside District Five. Tomizawa then adds that the District Five is the Barracuda’s turf and going inside is a death wish.
Despite this, Kasuga and Kiryu are dead set on going into District Five to follow the lead for Akane’s sake. Jeff points them to Roman, a corrupt police officer who knows how to get inside the district, and tells the group on where to meet him.
Later on, Kasuga senses Tomizawa’s hesitations in their plan and asks him about it. Tomizawa then shares his and his family’s tragic fate when he became a victim and a scapegoat of the Barracudas. He got framed for a crime he did not commit and served years in prison for it. This cost him the life of his unborn child and also his marriage. After hearing his story, the two encourage Tomizawa to not dwell in the past and use it to start anew with their help.
Go to Diamond Head
Make your way to the Diamond Head bar which is at the other side of the city. The path to the bar is lined up with thugs, including a miniboss that is guarding a safe containing a Fighter’s Belt. Before heading inside the bar, you may want to grind up to at least level 11 in order to be on par with the next boss fight.
Go inside the bar to meet up with Roman who then tries to intimidate the group of bribing him $50,000 in order to get inside District Five. When the Kasuga refuses, Roman then calls his men to beat them up which then starts up a fight.
Try to clear out Roman’s lackeys first who will usually bunch up in a small corner of the bar. Afterwards, you can then focus all your attacks on Roman. Once his health is low enough, Roman will do a QTE attack to which you can evade with a well timed evade.
Once Roman has been defeated, Kiryu tells him about their demands which include gaining entry into District Five and Kasuga being absolved of all his crimes in Hawaii, to which Roman begrudgingly agrees to.
Go back to Kiryu’s hotel
Head back to the hotel where the men rest for the night after a long eventful day. They decide to celebrate a bit by drinking. As their conversation deepens and Tomizawa decides to stick with the group for now, Kiryu decides to let them know bout his cancer. The chapter then ends and you will unlock the Time Marches On achievement.
