A former Eidos Montreal staff recently revealed that upcoming video game Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy had multiplayer at some point in development but they eventually dropped it.
That former staff member is Simon Larouche, who is now at Guerilla Games. In his LinkedIn profile, he talked about how his team worked on the multiplayer of the upcoming video game, but then they dropped the mode entirely.
No other details about the cancellation like the reason why for it that to happen during development, but there are theories. According to some, they think that with the negative feedback that Marvel’s Avengers got since it launched, it seemed Eidos Montreal picked that up and thought it was a good idea not to push for multiplayer.
The information about the cancellation of multiplayer has evidence, but other than that, those are just speculation. Take those with a grain of salt.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy launches on October 26 for PlayStation 4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
