Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 spoilers are surfacing across the web

Unwanted videos and screenshots of the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2 are already surfacing. Be careful if you don't want to get spoiled!

As expected, with Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 going gold just a few weeks ago and the first waves of review copies being handed out to media outlets (including yours truly), spoilers have unfortunately spawned across the interwebs like wildfire.

I’ve encountered certain groups on social media and a couple of gaming-centric forums with gameplay videos surfacing, spoiling key story moments and gameplay. It’s undoubtedly a vast letdown that some may have fallen into clicking videos. While it’s a common yet disappointing thing to happen in the gaming industry, especially with highly-anticipated games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, these people allegedly posting videos and screenshots on forums and social media don’t care about people’s expectations and how they don’t want to be spoiled.

Even the official Twitter/X page of Insomniac Games tweeted a spoiler warning!

While it’s true that people who don’t want to be spoiled can just avoid them, it’s hard when you already have a glimpse of the thumbnail. It’s difficult, mostly unavoidable. So tread lightly and be careful when scrolling down your news feed on social media, and don’t click certain topics on forums that may lead to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 spoilers.

If you’re wondering how these things happen, it’s a common occurrence when a game is streetbroken, meaning early copies of the game are handed out to certain people or those retailers that decide to sell copies of the game early. Media outlets, such as ourselves, who got a review code are tied with non-disclosure agreements and we’re only allowed to publish content when the embargo lifts.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 reviews will go live on October 16 at 7:00 AM Pacific Time / 10:00 PM PH Time.
