In a recent interview with media outlet Game Informer, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales actor Nadji Jeter actually found out of the spin-off during the launch party for the original game.
It was actually at the launch of the original game by Insomniac Games where he heard of his upcoming spin-off title. It was Creative Director Bryan Intihar who brought it up to him during the party.
Here’s their conversation:
“Bryan [Intihar], who was our creative director for [Marvel’s Spider-Man], took me aside and he was like, ‘Hey man, how’d you feel about you know, having your own game, and making Miles his own thing?.’
“I was like… ‘I’m ready!’ But I had to take care of some business stuff on the side, so I told him like, ‘Yeah I’m ready man, let’s do it, I’m gonna let you know when everything is set in stone and ready to go.'”
Jeter then asked for advice from Spider-man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal for some pointers about portraying the character in-game. “Yuri had to teach me how to swing in the booth because you know, Miles wasn’t swinging in the first game.”
The spin-off was already planned from the start with this revelation. In the comics and other media Miles Morales did take the Spider-Man costume and name at later times so it was to be a bit expected. It is still a bit surprising that Insomniac Games planned this way ahead of time.
Marvel’s Spider-man: Miles Morales is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12.
