MechWarrior Returns to PlayStation After 20 Years

After 20 years, MechWarrior is back on PlayStation.

If you have been waiting for a MechWarrior game to release on PlayStation, the wait is finally over as MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is officially launching on PS4 and PS5 later this month.

Spotted on PlayStation Blog, Daeron Katz, Piranha Games’ Community Manager, shared a detailed blog post about MechWarrior 5’s release on Sony’s platform.

“I feel honored to be able to formally announce that both MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and the Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC will be heading to PS4 and PS5 on September 23,” he wrote. “The PlayStation 5 version supports adaptive triggers and advanced haptics with the DualSense controller. This will also be the first time MechWarrior will be on a PlayStation console in over 20 years!”

Katz also stated that PlayStation players will expect a new feature that gives players the ability to switch to different BattleMechs on the battlefield. This enables players to have better positioning and strategic offensive strikes to win.

Plus, MechWarrior 5 will also support cross-play between platforms. PS4 and PS5 owners will be able to party up with players on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, and head into battle side-by-side.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will launch on September 23, 2021, for PS4 and PS5. The game is now available on Xbox.
