Game company Nintendo has officially confirmed in a statement that it will not appear at the upcoming event Tokyo Game Show 2021.
After Gamescom 2021 has ended, the next big event to look forward to this year is the Tokyo Game Show 2021 where Japanese developers and publishers will be showcasing their upcoming titles and plans. Some of the confirmed participating companies are Xbox, CAPCOM, Bandai Namco, andSquare Enix. Some fans have noticed that Nintendo has not made any announcements about attending the upcoming event. A new post online has now confirmed it.
The official Japanese Twitter account of Nintendo has confirmed that it will not be appearing at the Tokyo Game Show 2021. The Google machine translation roughly says that it will not have any physical booths during the event nor they will have any online showcase during that time. It does say that they will be assisting companies that will showcase indie games during the event.
The upcoming TGS 2021 will be a mix of physical and digital show. The digital version will be open for everyone to attend at select streaming sites. The physical show, however, will be attended by select media outlets due to the COVID-19 situation especially with the Delta variant wreaking havoc in some countries right now. The organizers are trying to be cautious not to become a hotspot for the infection perhaps.
Some fans have speculated that Nintendo will not be appearing during TGS 2021 because they have their own plans afterwards. It is possible that they are going to host a new Nintendo Direct during this month. Take this with a grain of salt though.
The Tokyo Game Show 2021 will go live on September 30, 2021 and will end next month, October 3, 2021.
