Game company Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that as of July 18, 2021, the PlayStation 5 console has sold more than 10 million units worldwide.
With more than 10 million units sold globally, the PS5 is now the fastest-selling console in the history of the game company. It is a big milestone for them and for the newest entry to the PlayStation franchise.
SIE is proud that even though there were challenges with the supplies and the global pandemic, they were evil to deliver a “transformational” gaming experience that has captivated the hearts of players around the world. Veronica Rogers, SVP, Global Head of Business Operations thanked everyone at the game company for putting all of their efforts in to making the PlayStation experience better than ever.
Rogers thanked several teams that made important contributions in developing the PS5. The Product Development team was the one responsible for the new innovations like SSD, 3D audio, and the DualSense controller with the new haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
The Hardware Engineering and Operations team had the important role of providing the resources to build the physical PS5 units and partnered with the global Business Operations teams to deliver them from them to the markets and customers around the world. Due to them, they were able to sell more than 10 million units.
The PS5 games also played a part in the sale and showcased the capabilities of the next-gen console.
Lastly, Rogers thanked the fans for the unending support and the great reception the PS5 got when it launched.
The PlayStation 5 has sold more than 10 million units worldwide and that number is growing day by day. Hopefully, supplies will be increase soon with fans trying to get one.
