Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl hasn’t been released for long and already people have already begun finding exploits that can change the game significantly. If you’ve always wanted to clone your Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl a glitch has been found that allows you to duplicate them. Here is how you do it.

Credit has to be given to Kevinfor5 who posted this glitch on Twitter. It seems that he was the first to discover this glitch and share it with others.

Cloning or duplicating your Pokémon means that you’ll have two of the same identical Pokémon on your party. Imagine the look on any rival trainers face when you throw out two Regigigas in a team battle! If you’re curious about how to clone your Pokémon we’ll show you how to do it.

    How to Clone Your Pokémon

The trick to cloning your Pokémon has been circulated widely already. Especially considering how easy it is to do. Here are the steps on how to duplicate your Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Light.

    Pokemon Day Care

    Save First

Before making the attempt, you should save first in case something goes wrong.

Go to the Pokémon Day Care

You need at least four Pokémon for this. The Pokémon you want to clone and a placeholder you don’t mind losing along with two other Pokémon. At the Pokémon Daycare Nursery, here’s what you first need to do.

    • Place a Pokémon on the bottom right corner of Box 1
    • Place another Pokémon on the bottom right corner of Box 2

You only need to register the Pokémon you placed in Box 1 to the Battle Box. They can be in any of the numbered Boxes, so long as they’re the only Pokémon there. The Pokémon you place by themselves on these boxes shouldn’t be the one you want to lose and one you want to clone.

Register the Pokémon to Your Battle Box

On the Pokémon you placed in Box 2, you’re going to register that to your Battle Box. Then after you do so, proceed to talk to the lady in the Day Care Center and she’ll ask if you want them to take care of your Pokémon. Say yes.

You’ll be taken to a screen where you need to switch Box 1 and Box 2 where you placed the individual Pokémon by their lonesome. The lady will ask if you’re done. Say yes and exit the screen.

    Finish the Cloning Glitch

Once you’ve exited the screen, go back to your Pokémon Boxes again. Select your Battle Box and you’ll notice at the bottom left corner of your screen, there will be a glitched Pokémon. Here is what you need to do next.

    1. Select the placeholder Pokémon you don’t mind losing.
    2. Place that Pokémon in the Battle Box where the glitched Pokémon is.
    3. That Pokémon will be deleted.
    4. Select the Pokémon you want to clone.
    5. Drop that Pokémon in the Box.
    6. Check the Summary of that Pokémon.
    7. Exit the Summary Screen.

You should now have two of the same Pokémon on the Battle Box. The glitched Pokémon below on the bottom left should be removed. This also works for items.

And that’s everything you need to know about cloning your Pokémon. For now this hasn’t been patched, so you can go ahead and clone your Pokémon as much as you want!
