Putting PS5 on Vertical Does Not Actually Damage the Console

There have been new details revealed about putting the PS5 console in a vertical position and might have just debunked a recent claim. Somewhat.

A few days ago, some experts warned the gaming community that putting the PS5 in an upright position would damage the insides of the console due to the liquid metal around the processor. The claim comes from hardware repair shop owner 68Logic who said that the liquid metal that was used to cool the APU would leak to the sides and damage other parts of the PS5 board.

According to Wololo, This happens but in certain situations only. It was confirmed that the leakage could occur only if the console got opened. PS5s that are brand new are not in danger of liquid metal leakage. For those that got opened and fixed, owners might have to put them laying on their side.

So PS5 owners who like to put their consoles upright, rejoice! They can now continue to do so without consequence, as long as it has not been opened yet.

    Here goes nothing:
There was a critical misunderstanding on our end when we thought TheCod3r said the Liquid Metal problem happened on unopened, in-box PS5s. What he said (and meant) was PS5s that had not been opened (the actual console!) by other repair shops prior to him.
