Resident Evil 4 Remake: Can You Play as Albert Wesker?

One of the most iconic villains in survival horror is none other than Albert Wesker, whom fans are also excited to see in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. This megalomaniac is the most beloved villain in the franchise, which not even Alcina Dimitrescu could dethrone. While we got the chance to play as him in the original Resident Evil 4, one could wonder if Albert Wesker is playable in the Remake.

Is Albert Wesker playable in the Resident Evil 4 Remake?

It’s unconfirmed, but Albert Wesker is likely to be playable in the Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries mode.

The announcement of The Mercenaries mode in the third Resident Evil 4 Remake trailer gives us a solid chance of playing as Wesker. He was already playable in this mode in the original, and we see no reason why we can’t play as him again. You’ll likely have to unlock Albert Wesker as a playable character first though.

The Mercenaries is an optional mini-game that is being planned to be added to Resident Evil 4 Remake as post-launch DLC. This mode will have you competing to get the highest score by killing enemies before the timer runs out. You can select multiple characters to play as, which will probably include Albert Wesker.

Play as Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Despite only being seen in the Separate Ways DLC in the original game, Wesker is important to the background of Resident Evil 4’s plot. In fact, he already has a confirmed voice actor. So it’s unlikely that Capcom will replace him for The Mercenaries with anyone else.

    Who is Albert Wesker?

Albert Wesker is one of the primary antagonists of Resident Evil and a bioterrorist who has a deep seated grudge against Chris Redfield. He initially worked as a scientist for Umbrella and was a close adviser to William Spencer before going undercover as a police captain and forming S.T.A.R.S. as his pet project.

In 1998, Wesker eventually betrayed Umbrella to join a rival company, where he used his S.T.A.R.S. to test out the combat efficiency of the B.O.W.S. and provide combat data for his employers. During the events of the Spencer Mansion, Wesker infects himself with the T-Virus and resurrects with superhuman abilities after being killed.

Play as Albert Wesker The Mercenaries

Wesker is known for always wearing shades with clean-cut, professional clothing. In Resident Evil 4, he wears a sharp black suit. Considering that some outfits, such as Ada and Ashley’s, were changed, it’s possible that Wesker’s Wardrobe has been updated too.

We hope this answers if Albert Wesker is playable in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. If you like this article, be sure to check out our other Resident Evil 4 Remake articles here.
